He was born in Cainarién, Cuba. He studied at ‘Academia de la Banda Municipal’, ‘Conservatorio Provincial de Santa Clara’, ‘Escuela Nacional de Arte’ (La Habana) and graduated at the ‘Prague Superior Academy of Musical Arts’ (AMU), where he also did postgrade studies in ‘Pedagogy, Psychology and Methodology of Musical Teaching’ and postgrade studies at the ‘Leos Janácek Superior Music Academy’, in Brno (Czech Republic).
He has been member of the jury in many national and international competitions; member of the ‘Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional’ and soloist at the ‘Orquesta del Gran Teatro de la Ópera y el Ballet de La Habana’; solo clarinet at the ‘Mozart Opera Orquestra’, in Prague; solo clarinet at the ‘Bohemian Symphony Orchestra’ (Czech Republic).
He has been a teacher at ‘Cursos Martín Codax’ and is a founding teacher at ‘Cursos Internacionales de Clarinete Julián Menéndez’ and ‘Asociación para el Estudio y Desarrollo del Clarinete’. Since 13 years ago he has been a teacher at ‘AMEROPA – International Clarinet Course/Festival’, in Prague, and founding teacher at the ‘Prague Orchestral Summer Academy Filarmonietta’ and, until 2012, a teacher at the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, Madrid.
Currently he is a clarinet teacher at Escuelas Municipales de Música del Ayuntamiento de Madrid, music director of the ‘Ensemble de Clarinetes de Madrid’ and clarinet and chamber music teacher at Centro Superior de Enseñanza Musical KATARINA GURSKA, Madrid.
