Ángel Luis Castaño
After completing his official studies in Spain, he completed his studies for 2 years with Max Bonnay at the Paris Conservatoire, where he got the 1st Prize unanimously with a Jury Commendation. He also studied for one year (1991 to 1992) in Denmark, where he took perfectioning studies at the Royal Academy of Copenhagen with Mogens Ellegaard.
Ángel Luis Castaño was First Prize on 7 accordion competitions (3 of them international level) such as the International Competition for accordion soloists “Coupe Mondiale 1990” held in Trossingen (Germany), the ‘Certamen Nacional de Arrasate de Acordeón’ for 2 consecutive years, the UFAM International Chamber Music Competition in Paris, etc.
He has given numerous concerts and recitals as a soloist in most of Spain and in several countries around the world, having premiered more than 50 works for accordion from many composers, among which several winners of the ‘Premio Nacional de Composición’.
He has taught at the Conservatorios Professionales of Irun and Segovia. He also held the chair of accordion at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón for 10 years. He currently teaches at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música Arturo Soria, in Madrid, and works as a teacher at the Máster de Interpretación para Solistas’ of the Centro Superior KATARINA GURSKA. Some of his students have been awarded and rewarded in some of the most important competitions of the national and international scene.
