David Carabias, PhD

I began my musical studies at the Conservatory of Music in Segovia. Later, I entered the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid in 1994 (Piano, Piano Didactics, Acoustics, History of Music, Art and Musical Aesthetics).

I graduated in Teaching, specialising in Music Education. E. U. Magisterio de Segovia (UVa), 1997, having obtained the following prizes:

* Prize for the Best Academic Record. University of Valladolid-Caja Duero, 1997.

* Extraordinary Prize in the Diploma of the University School of Teaching. University of Valladolid, 1996-1997.

Subsequently, I graduated with a degree in History and Science of Music. Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of Valladolid (UVa), 1999, having obtained the scholarship:

* Scholarship from the International Relations Commission of the University of Valladolid to participate in the International Conference on Gregorian Chant at l’Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud (France) from 15 to 24 July 1998.

Finally, I obtained my PhD in Pedagogy from the University of Valladolid (2016) with the thesis La formación inicial y continua del maestro de Educación Artística en España y Latinoamérica, which received the qualification of Sobresaliente Cum Laude.

At the same time, I have worked as a teacher in the area of Didactics of Musical Expression in the Faculty of Education of Segovia at the University of Valladolid (UVa) since 2000. In addition to formal teaching, I have to highlight other dedications:

* Professor at the University School since 2007.

* Lecturer in the University of Valladolid’s own degree of Specialist in Arts Education, Culture and Citizenship since the 2011-2012 academic year.

* Coordinator of the Segovia Campus of the Master’s Degree in Secondary Education at the University of Valladolid (academic years 11/12, 12/13 and 13/14).

* Director of the Teacher Training College of Segovia (UVa) from 2008 to 2012.

I have also taught 9 courses on ICT in Music Education in Teacher Training Centres in Castilla y León, Aragón and Madrid. From 2004 to 2009

And outside the teaching field, I am a composer and music editor for audiovisuals since 2000, highlighting the creation of identities for TV channels such as: TVE, Tele5, Canal+, Canal Sur, TVGa, ETB, Localia, Quiero TV, Romantica (UK), Al-Qataria (Qatar)…
