Savva Fatkulin

Savva Fatkulin was born in Sverdlovsk, Russia in 1981. He began his violin studies at the age of 6 under the guidance of his father, Serguei Fatkulin, at the Music School affiliated with the Moscow Conservatory. Later, he completed his musical education at the Reina Sofía School of Music, in the Violin Chair of the Telefónica Foundation under the tutelage of Professor Zakhar Bron, holder of said chair, where he received the Diploma of Honor as a member of the Best Chamber Group of the School, presented by Her Majesty Queen Doña Sofía.

Between 2001 and 2003, he furthered his education with Professor Grigori Zhislin at the Wurzburg Conservatory (Germany) and subsequently completed his studies with a Diploma of Honor at the Ekaterinburg Superior Conservatory.

Additionally, he has received masterclasses from M. Fuks, D. Zafer, P. Munteanu, O. Krysa, P. Vernikov, A. Niechiporuk, V. Repin, V. Tretiakov, J.L.G. Asencio, and D. Poppen. He has given numerous concerts in Germany, France, England, Ireland, Italy, Brazil, and Russia, where he has performed as a soloist with the Nizhni Novgorod Philharmonic Orchestra on several occasions. He has participated as a soloist and concertmaster in various recordings and concerts with the Valencian Baroque Orchestra and the Scarlatti Quintet.

His activity as first violinist of various chamber formations is also noteworthy, including the Arima Quartet, with which he has toured and performed concerts in Mexico, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, and the Alberti Trio, with which he won the First Prize in the Arnuero Chamber Music Competition (Spain) and has performed numerous concerts in Spain, France, and Italy.

He was part of the Concordiae Trio, an emerging formation whose repertoire spans from the most representative works of the Baroque, Classicism, and Romanticism to contemporary music, with which he achieved numerous successes on European stages, being awarded in numerous national and international competitions such as the International Chamber Music Competition of Pinerolo, Italy; International Competition “Paper de Música de Capellades”, Barcelona; National Chamber Music Competition of Lucena; Chamber Music and Lied Competition “Ciutat de Berga”; “Premi de Música Ciutat de Manresa”; Chamber Music Competition “Montserrat Alavedra” of Terrassa, among others.

Shortly after, the Concordiae Trio was selected for the Britten-Pears Young Artists Programme in Aldeburgh, England.

TEACHING CAREER

Parallel to his artistic activity, he has been teaching since the age of 18 at various private schools in Spain, combining the foundations of the Russian school with more recent methodologies.

Since 1997, he has worked with his father, Sergei Fatkulin, at the Fatkulin Academy Centers of High Performance in Madrid and Bonn, where brilliant students have been trained, many of whom have won numerous international awards, including Carla Marrero, Alicia Randó, José Fraguas, Jaime Naya, Alberto Sanz, Kaori López, and Sofía Rodríguez.

Additionally, since 2008, he has taught various masterclasses at several editions of the International Summer Course Nueva Generación Musical Katarina Gurska (Segovia and Madrid), International Course of Llanes (Asturias), International Course Eduardo Ocón (Málaga), and Course Caprichos Musicales (Comillas, Asturias).

Currently, he is active as a violin professor at the Katarina Gurska Higher School of Musical Studies, where he guides students from Elementary to Intermediate and Advanced levels, starting from the age of five.
