[FINISHED] Timpani Masterclass - Javier Azanza

The great Javier Azanza  will give masterclasses for timpani players Aula Moderna of the CSKG at Paseo de la Castellana 95, Madrid.

Javier is a timpani soloist with the Orchestre de Paris and a teacher at the Conservatoire Musikene in the Basque Country.

He began his studies at the Centro Instructivo Musical de Benimaclet and later entered the Conservatorio de Música Profesional de Valencia. In 2010 he obtained the Superior Title of Music in the speciality of Percussion at the Conservatorio Superior “Salvador Seguí” of Castellón. Due to his great interest in the improvement and deepening of the orchestral repertoire, he decided to continue his studies in Germany.

In Munich, he was accepted at the “Hochschule für Musik und Thea-ter München” under the tutelage of professors Raymond Curfs, Peter Sadlo and Franz Bach, obtaining a Master’s degree with honours. During his training as a student he has belonged to various youth orchestras such as the Youth Orchestra of Valencia, Jeunesses Musical World Orchestra, Joven Or-questa Nacional de España (JONDE) and Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester (GMJO) among others.

In 2012 he was accepted at the prestigious Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and for two years he received lessons from professors Rainer Seegers and Franz Schindlbeck, as well as collaborating regularly with the orchestra. From 2015 to 2017 he was Solo Timpanist Timpanist of the Euskadi Symphony Orchestra. He collaborates with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Concertge-bouw Orchestra, NDR Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Munich State Opera and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra among others. He is currently Solo Timpanist of the Orchestre de Paris under the baton of Klaus Mäkelä and Professor at the Conservatoire of the Basque Country Musikene.
