Javier Martínez García

Born in Guadalajara, he began his musical studies of clarinet at the Escuela Municipal de Música de Meco and later entered the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Alcalá de Henares (Madrid). In 2007 he finished his studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid, obtaining the highest marks under the guidance of Professor Justo Sanz Hermida. Throughout his musical career, he has studied intensively with Professor Vicent Alberola and has taken advanced courses with: Antony Pay, Joan Enric Lluna, Justo Sanz, Javier Balaguer, Enrique Pérez, Eduardo Raimundo, Robert Bianciotto, Hedwig Swimberghe, Pablo Fernández and Francisco Tasa,among others. During his higher education he has been a member of several youth orchestras, such as: National Youth Orchestra of Spain (JONDE), Orchestra-school of the Madrid Symphony Orchestra, Youth Orchestra of the Community of Madrid (JOCMA), National Orchestra Academy of Lyon and MMCK Youth Orchestra of Tokyo.
After graduating he was invited two consecutive years to the Festival Music Master Course in Kazusa in Tokyo (Japan), a chamber music and orchestra course conducted by the prestigious conductor Alan Gilbert (years in which he was principal conductor of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra).

In 2011 he was a semi-finalist at the Concours Debussy International Clarinet Competition in Paris.

In his orchestral experience he has performed in various auditoriums in Europe with the following conductors: Alan Gilbert, Peter Schneider, Frühbeck de Burgos, Pinchas Steinberg, Jesús López Cobos, Juanjo Mena, Michael Francis, Walter Weller, Jiri Belohlávek, Evelino Pidó, Emmanuel Villaume and Naoto Otomo, among others. He has been invited to play in Les Dissonances in France, Orquesta de Extremadura, Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, Orquesta de Cadaqués and he combines his work as a clarinet soloist with teaching, giving different courses and masterclasses to young orchestras and conservatories in Spain.
He is currently clarinet soloist of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Radio Televisión Española, a post he obtained by competitive examination in 2009.
