Paulino Capdepón, PhD
He was born in Miranda de Ebro (Burgos). He holds degrees in History, Art History, Musicology and Piano, as well as a PhD in Musicology from the University of Hamburg (1991). He has published 40 books and book chapters, and more than 200 articles in Spanish, English, German and French.
He holds ten awards, including the “VI Premio de investigación musical Orfeón Donostiarra-Universidad del País Vasco” (2006) and the “XX Premio de Historia Jiménez de Gregorio” (Talavera, 2011). He has taught 32 university courses and has attended more than 40 congresses in Spain and abroad. He has carried out more than 70 research projects and 14 Special Actions with public and private funding. In 2007 he was elected Academician of the Royal Academy of Doctors and in 2008 Academician of the Royal Academy of History. He is the director of the musicology collection of the musicological collection “Investigación y Patrimonio Musical” in the publishing house Alpuerto.
Since 1988 he has been a university lecturer (having worked at the universities of Salamanca, La Rioja, San Pablo-CEU, IE Universidad and San Dámaso) and has been Professor of Musicology at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid and the Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid for twelve years. He is currently Professor of Music History at the University of Castilla-La Mancha and Director of the “Centro de Investigación y Documentación Musical de Castilla-La Mancha. Associated Unit of the CSIC”. He is in possession of 4 sexenios of research.
