DIAFREO WORKSHOP: Body integration method for musicians
Students training to become professional musicians are exposed to work that is characterised by high demands in several areas: physical, intellectual and communicative.
The study of instrumental performance requires an awareness of the body that allows a controlled and well-managed use of the body. Not only the physical and mental balance of the musician but also a quality performance will depend to a large extent on this.
Often the student musician sees his artistic quality diminished when anguish and stage fright appear in situations of exams, auditions or concerts, that is to say, when there is an increased responsibility. Automatically and as a consequence, respiratory blockage and muscular tension appear. These elements act as brakes, preventing a fluid and free interpretation. Depending on the degree of stress, the consequences will be more or less serious in the results of the interpretation.
The diaphragmatic bodywork method offers the musician tools that can help him in different key facets of his training and development as a performer and musician.
A performance without muscular tension offers the possibility of feeling more freedom for artistic expression and communication. It allows you to establish a more fluid relationship with the music and with the message you want to convey.
In diafreo we work with the body and breathing as fundamental tools:
Through different postures adapted to each person, we stretch the muscle chains and release the respiratory function.
We seek to balance the musculature by releasing excess tension and strengthening those muscles that need to be toned.
We do not aim to teach the musician how to breathe, but to observe where the brakes are that prevent the adaptation of breathing to each context.
We work to develop:
body awareness, connection with the body
conscious movement, using only the necessary effort
a balanced posture that allows the necessary stability for each instrumentalist
