Improvisation is a creative act that cultivates spontaneity, a crucial element for both music and dance. Movement produces sounds and translates sounds. Music and dance coexist and inspire each other constantly. Ranging from pre-established compositional exercises to free improvised dances alongside music jams, this course offers the possibility to reverse roles and experiment with both – both what it means to create music ipso facto in response to movement, and to dance in response to music.
This multidisciplinary course offers students the opportunity to acquire and explore new tools to inspire their own artistic practices.

Sandra Kramerová
She is a dancer, choreographer and dance teacher with extensive professional experience in Amsterdam, New York, Israel and Slovakia. She holds an MFA in Dance from Sarah Lawrence College in New York, and has already received a special grant from Fonds Podiumkunsten (national fund) in the Netherlands for emerging artists for the last two years. Sandra has taught modern dance, dance theatre and choreography at the University of Amsterdam.
Before participating in the international dance programme of Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company in Israel, Sandra graduated in choreography at the Slovak University of Performing Arts. Sandra has presented her work as a choreographer at Frascati, CC Amstel, Pleintheater and Dansmakers in Amsterdam, Theater De Generator in Leiden, Schuur in Haarlem, Maaspodium in Rotterdam, Theater Kikker in Utrecht, Concordia in Enschede, Dixon Place, BAM Fisher, Danspace Project, The Secret Theatre and National Bohemian Hall in New York, Nu dance fest in Bratislava, Malý Berlin in Trnava and Teatro Lagrada in Madrid. His multimedia dance solo Body as a Weapon (2020) was included in the top 5 performances of 2020 by Het Parool, one of the largest Dutch national newspapers. Her latest works MAJKA (2021) and Dictatorship of Love (2022) are touring theatres in the Netherlands, Slovakia, New York and Spain. Sandra’s dance classes approach the explosive potential of movement, harness the imagination through action-based improvisations and combine floor work with sensory alertness and athletic theatricality.
