ITZIAR OYARZABAL'S VIOLIN CLASS WITH THE COLLABORATION OF PROF. KIRILL TROUSSOV

PROF. KIRILL TROUSSOV WILL WORK AS A COLLABORATOR IN ITZIAR OYARZABAL’S VIOLIN CLASS FOR THE UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE & POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN INSTRUMENTAL PERFORMANCE – COURSE 2023/2024

Professor Kirill Troussov will be at the centre in Madrid for his face-to-face classes in December and June, and will monitor each of the students telematically on a monthly basis.

Itziar Oyarzabal was born in San Sebastian in 1981. She began her violin studies at the age of 5 under the guidance of Ana María Sebastián with the Suzuki Method. After entering the Conservatorio Superior de Música de San Sebastián, at the age of 17 she completed the Grado Superior de Violín in the same teacher’s chair, obtaining the highest qualification and the end of degree prize.

In the same year, she was admitted to the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid, in the Violin Chair of Professor Zakhar Bron and his assistant Serguei Fatkulin, with whom she continued her training in Germany from 2001 to 2004.

Between 2004 and 2007 she completed the Postgraduate Master’s Degree with Professor Grigory Zhislin at the “Hochschule für Musik Würzburg” in Germany.

She has also received master classes from M. Fuks, E. Wulfson, V. Repin, S. Rodjenvenski, M. Keylin, A. Czifra, V. Martín and E. Masters. She has given numerous concerts in Spain, Germany, Austria and Italy, as a soloist and in various chamber ensembles. She has also performed as a soloist with an orchestra at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona.

Between 2007 and 2017 she is co-founder and member of the “Sorion Quartett”, with which after three years of study under the tutelage of the “Vogler Quartett”, she obtains the title of Master of Chamber Music at the “Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart”, Germany; Later she furthered her training in masterclasses with renowned quartets such as “Artemis Quartett”, Peter Buck (Melos Quartett), Cuarteto Casals and “Julliard Quartett”.

In this ensemble she has performed in different Music Festivals in Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy; among others, Cultura Musical de San Sebastián, “Oberstdorfer Musiksommer” and “Lingotto Musica Torino”.

Parallel to her artistic activity, she began her pedagogical work teaching children of different ages and occasionally worked as an assistant to Professor Grigory Zhislin based on the combination of the Suzuki method and the basics of the Russian school.

Between 2010 and 2017, she taught at the “Steigerwald Musikschule” in Würzburg, Germany, instructing children and young people from the age of 3. During this period, several of her pupils obtained top marks in various competitions of the “Jugend Musiziert” competition in the youth category.

During these years, she has also performed at various chamber music festivals throughout Germany, Italy and Montenegro with the chamber ensembles “Nuancen Trio” (clarinet, piano and violin) and “Fetique Duo” (violin and cello), as well as with the quartet “Quadro Zias”, with which she has recorded a CD in which she plays music styles ranging from improvisation to folk music.

From 2013 to 2017 she is the assistant concertmaster of the chamber orchestra “Orchester Jakobsplatz München”.

Since 2017 she has been a violin and chamber music teacher at the Centro Superior Katarina Gurska in Madrid, a period in which her students have obtained significant results in national and international competitions in both modalities.

Substitution for Gidon Kremer in Paris, Asia Tour with the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, his spectacular performance at the BBC Proms and his activity as jury member at international competitions, a.o. at the Schoenfeld International String Competition, the Eugene Ysaÿe and the Carl Flesch Competitions are just some of numerous highlights of his past concert seasons.His international awards include the European cultural award “Pro-Europa”, the Davidoff-Prize of the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the international Yamaha Prize and the Reuters-Prize of the Verbier Festival.

Kirill Troussov regularly gives master classes at the Mozarteum Salzburg, Colburn School Los Angeles, Beijing and Nanjing Central Conservatory, European Music Intstitute Vienna, in Cremona, Milan, Madrid, Dublin, Berlin, Munich, Oslo, Budapest, USA and Hong Kong.

Since 2023 Kirill Troussov is Artistic Director at the Carl Flesch Academy in Baden-Baden and since 2021 Chairman and Artistic Director of the “Hong Kong International Young Musicians Competition”.

His CD-recordings among others by EMI-Classics, Warner Classics, Dabringhaus&Grimm, Naxos and Farao Classics have been repeatedly awarded and highly praised by the international press. Furthermore, he is to watch with Yuja Wang on her DVD with Kurt Masur.

Since 2023 the Label “Orchid Classics” releases the series “Kirill Troussov Live”, where over 40 of his celebrated live concert performances will be available on all audio-streaming platforms.

He completed his studies with Zakhar Bron and Christoph Poppen. His mentors have been Igor Oistrach, Herman Krebbers and Sir Yehudi Menuhin.

Kirill Troussov plays the Antonio Stradivari violin “Brodsky” of 1702, on which violinist Adolph Brodsky performed the world premiere of Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto on Dec 4, 1881.
