[FINISHED] Masterclass de BELCANTO con el Tenor Shalva Mukeria
Aimed at professional singers and students in their final years of Intermediate Studies and Undergraduate studies. During the three days of masterclasses, posture, breathing and good voice tone applied to interpretation will be worked on, as well as all technical aspects of “bel canto” and of the Italian School of Singing that characterises Mukeria’s technique, which he perfected with the Italian tenor Salvatore Fisichella, among others.
The master classes will take place from the 21st to the 23rd of April in the CSKG Auditorium and will consist of two individual classes of vocal technique and interpretation, and a class with the repertoire teacher Manuel Burgueras.
Shalva Mukeria
Born in Georgia, he studied the clarinet at the Tbilisi Conservatory and then moved to Odessa, where he completed his singing studies at the A.V. Nezhdanova Academy of Music. As a member of the Odessa Opera Theatre, he performed roles such as Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Alfredo (La Traviata), Duca di Mantova (Rigoletto), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Rodolfo (La Bohème) and Werther.
In January 2000, Zubin Mehta selected him to sing the part of Elvino in La Sonnambula with Mariella Devia in Florence. In 2004 he made his US debut in a new production of La Sonnambula at the Santa Fe Opera, sharing the stage with soprano Natalie Dessay, as the Italienischer Sänger in Der Rosenkavalier and Arturo with Edita Gruberova in I puritani, in 2005-2007. In 2006 he was heard in Duca di Mantova in Bilbao and La Sonnambula at the Santander Festival. His debut at La Scala came in 2007 as Tonio in La fille du régiment, returning to the Milan theatre in 2011 as Ernesto in Don Pasquale and in 2013 with Les Troyens conducted by Antonio Pappano. Since then he has sung at the best festivals and theatres; Tours, Treviso, at La Monnaie in Brussels, Palermo, Amsterdam, Toulon, Salerno, Tokyo, Florence, Vienna State Opera, Cagliari, Pamplona, Savonlinna, Essen and Warsaw among others.
His recent engagements include Teobaldo from Montecchi and Capuleti at Arena di Verona, Edgardo from Lucia di Lammermoor, Elvino from La Sonnambula in Florence, Alfredo from La Traviata at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Tonio from La Fille du Regiment in Trieste, Palermo and Oman, Arturo from I Puritani and Werther from Massenet in Palermo, Rigoletto and La Traviata at Shanghai Grand Opera house.
He has recently been invited to give masterclasses at the Conservatory of Music in Tbilisi, in Moscow, in Odessa, at the Escuela Superior de música Reina Sofia, in Kiev and at the Rossinian Academy in Pesaro.
