Fabrice Millischer is to date the first and only 28-year-old winner of the first prize at the ARD International Music Competition in the trombone category. Exposed to music since childhood, his love of music began with the piano, moved on to the cello and finally to the trombone. He studied both instruments at the Toulouse Conservatory and obtained the highest marks in his graduation exams. While continuing his cello studies, he joined the CNSMD in Lyon, where he took trombone masterclasses with Michel Becquet and Alain Manfrin and sackbut with Daniel Lassalle.

In 2006, Millischer formed the quartet called “Quartbone” focusing his work on the development of the trombone from the baroque period to the present and is frequently touring with famous baroque ensembles such as “Le Concert de Nations” under the direction of Jordi Savall, “Sasqueboutiers” conducted by Daniel Lassalle and Jean-Pierre Canihac, and Laurence Equilbey’s “Insula Orchestra”.

Winner of several international prizes: Budapest (2005) and the Sacqueboute competition in Toulouse (2006), since 2009, he has been an active participant in the AFAA’s “Déclic” programme. In 2009 he received the Silver Medal of the Academy of Arts and Letters and in 2011, the first prize in the category “Instrumental Soloist Revelation” of the “Victoires de la Musique Classique”. In the same year, he was recognised by the prestigious Académie Charles-Cros with its Grand Prix.

He has been invited to play as soloist with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Hermitage State Orchestra in St. Petersburg, the National Orchestra of the Capitol in Toulouse, the Cannes Symphony Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Ukraine and has participated in numerous festivals such as the Eastern Trombone Workshop, the Epsival, the Cuivres en Dombes, the Limoux Cuivrée Spéciale.

He was solo trombonist with the German Radio Philharmonic Orchestra Saarbrücken/Kaiserslautern from 2008 to 2013.

Fabrice Millischer currently teaches trombone at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris. In addition, he is regularly invited to give master classes in France and Europe, as well as in other parts of the world: in Washington, Beijing, Quebec.

He currently works with Antoine Courtois Paris and plays the Legend 420 NSBHST.
