RUBÉN SANCHEZ VIECO

He obtained the Superior Piano Degree at the Conservatori Superior de Música de València, obtaining the highest marks in interpretation, chamber music and improvisation. In Madrid he studied musical phenomenology and piano with José Cruzado.

First prize in the “X Concurso Nacional de Piano Maestro Serrano”.

In 2009 he specializes in lyric repertoire after being awarded a scholarship at the “Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo” (Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, Valencia). This programme gives him the opportunity to work as a repetition teacher with L. Maazel, Z. Mehta, A. Zedda or P. Domingo, among others.

He has studied conducting with G. Gelmetti (Accademia Chigiana di Siena), J.M. Pérez-Sierra, C. Metters, B. Aprea and A. Holub. In 2017 he obtained the 2nd Prize in the “Complete Beethoven Conducting Masterclass” (London).

He has been Maestro Collaboratore of Alberto Zedda and Mariella Devia. In 2019 he collaborates as pianist in the album “Anima Rara” with Ermonela Jaho. He has been pianist accompanist of the Singing Competition “Compostela Lírica” and member of the jury of the Concurs de Cant “Josep Palet”.

He has performed at the Auditorio Nacional de Música, Fundación J. March, Teatro Real de Madrid, Teatro de la Zarzuela, Palau de la Música de València, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Maison de l’UNESCO in Paris, as well as at the following festivals: Rossini Opera Festival (Italy), Festival de Santander, III Festival del Mediterràni, Festival Pucciniano de Torre del Lago (Italy), Sibiu Opera Festival (Romania) and Festival Terras sem Sombras (Portugal).

In 2021 he replaced Mº M. Ortega at the helm of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife for the production La Casa de Bernarda Alba. He has conducted the following orchestras: “Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid”, “London Classical Soloist”, “Lithuanian Symphony Orchestra”, “Sibiu Philharmonic Orchestra” and “Barbieri Symphony Orchestra” performing lyric and symphonic repertoire.

He is currently the Musical Coordinator of the Accademia Rossiniana Alberto Zedda (ROF) and collaborates as musical assistant and pianist in the seasons of the Teatro de la Zarzuela, Ópera de Tenerife and Palau de les Arts. In addition, he combines his artistic activity with teaching at the Escuela Superior de Música Katarina Gurska (Madrid) where he gives seminars in concert at the Grado Superior de Canto.
