Irune Liberal

Born in Pamplona (Navarra), she studied at the Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco (Musikene), the Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña (ESMUC) and the Vienna State Opera.

She won second prize in the Frédéric Chopin competition held in Pamplona on the occasion of his bicentenary and was awarded a scholarship by the Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation during her Master’s degree in Lied, Spanish song and Catalan cançó at the ESMUC, and by the Musiktheater Bavaria organisation to participate as a repertoire pianist in its opera course held in Munich.

Since 2011 she has worked as a repertoire pianist and has given numerous concerts in the Schloss Thalheim (Austria), Auditori de Barcelona, Ateneu Barcelonés, Museo Nacional de Arte de Cataluña, Teatro Victoria Eugenia de San Sebastián or the Palacio de Congresos y Auditorio de Navarra, including the Lied concert with the soprano Ulrike Haller for the radio station Catalunya Música in commemoration of its 30th anniversary and the show Zarzuela y mujer together with the Coral de Cámara de Navarra. In addition, and for the third consecutive year, she has been selected by the Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation to participate in the Life Victoria Lied Festival.

She has also worked as a teacher of Piano and Repertoire at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Navarra and as a teacher of Artistic Education at the Public University of Navarra during the academic years 2020-2023.
