Paula García Morales

Born in Madrid, Paula studied at the Adolfo Salazar Conservatory under the guidance of Dionisio Rodríguez, and later attended the Reina Sofía School of Music, studying with Diemut Poppen and Jonathan Brown. She furthered her studies at the Hochschule für Musik “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig with Guy Ben-Ziony and at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin with Simone Jandl. Additionally, she received instruction from Jean Philippe Vasseur, Wenting Kang, Thuan Do Mihn, Avri Levitan, and Yuval Gotlibovich.

Paula participated in masterclasses with renowned instructors such as Tabea Zimmermann, Nobuko Imai, Mimi Zweig, Ulrich Knopfler, Hariolf Schlichtig, Tatjana Masurenko, Hartmut Rohde, Thomas Riebl, and Wolfram Christ. In chamber music, she studied under Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet), Heime Müller (Artemis Quartet), Ferenc Rados, Marta Gulyás, Eldar Nebolsin, and Ivan Monighetti.

She has been awarded the “Ciudad de Toledo” Prize for Viola at the VII Diputación de Toledo Competition for String Instruments, as well as the Extraordinary Prize and Honorable Mention for Viola at the Adolfo Salazar Professional Conservatory of Music. Paula was recognized as the most outstanding student of the Viola Chair at the Reina Sofía School of Music. She has received scholarships from the Albéniz Foundation, the Community of Madrid, AIE (Society of Artists, Performers, and Executants), and BBVA-JONDE.

Paula’s orchestral experience includes participation in youth orchestras such as the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, European Union Youth Orchestra, Joven Orquesta Nacional de España, Jeune Orchestre Athlantique, Wiener Jeunesse Orchester, and Junge Philharmonie Berlin, where she collaborated with conductors Gianandrea Noseda, Philippe Jordan, Sigiswald Kuijken, Lütz Koehler, and Enrico Onofri. She has performed at festivals including the Bolzano Festival, BBC Proms London, and Edinburgh International Festival, among others.

She has performed recitals at the Sony Auditorium in Madrid, ABC Museum in Madrid, Santander Music and Academy Encounter, Midsummer Festival in Berlin, Espacio Ronda, and Club Matador in Madrid, collaborating with pianists Maria Zisi, Alina Shalamova, Alkistis Milioni, and Aníbal Bañados.

Paula has also been involved in teaching, serving as a viola instructor for the National Children’s Orchestra of Uruguay, the Pedagogical Encounters of the XI Boccherini Festival in Arenas de San Pedro, and the Summer Camp organized by the Reina Sofía School of Music. In March 2024, she conducted masterclasses at the Castilla-La Mancha Superior Conservatory of Music.

She has been actively engaged in social programs and was part of the Music in Vein MIR research project, aimed at humanizing healthcare through resident musicians.

Paula has been a regular collaborator with the Orquestra de Cadaqués, under the direction of Gianandrea Noseda and Jaime Martín, participating in international tours across Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, and performing at festivals such as the Stresa Festival and Santander International Festival. She has also been invited to perform with the Orchestra of the Palau de Les Arts in Valencia, BOS Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa, RTVE Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the Community of Madrid.

Since 2013, Paula has been a member and technical director of the Ensemble Praeteritum.

In September 2019, she secured a position as a violist in the Spanish National Orchestra.
