Julio Pastor

Born in Onil (Alicante) in 1990. At the age of 7 he began studying the cello with his father. Later he extended his musical training as a trumpet player until he completed the Intermediate Level. In 2014 he finished his studies of Double Bass at the Conservatorio Superior de Música “Oscar Esplá” in Alicante with the teachers Josep Hernández and Moisés Parejo, obtaining the highest marks. With a scholarship from the Erasmus programme, he spent the 2012-2013 academic year at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica “Giuseppe Verdi” in Turin (Italy), under the tutelage of maestro Paolo Borsarelli.

In the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons, he collaborated as an academician with the Orquesta Nacional de España. In 2015/16 she received the JONDE-Fundación BBVA scholarship and studied a Master’s Degree in Solo Performance at the Centro Superior de Enseñanza Musical “Katarina Gurska” in Madrid with Professor Luis Cabrera. In 2016 he worked as double bass soloist in the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, and in March 2017 he was awarded the Premio Sociedad de Conciertos de Alicante. He currently works as a double bass teacher at the Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco “Musikene” and since February 2017 he is a regular member of the Orquesta Nacional de España, in Madrid, where he currently resides.

He has been a regular member of numerous youth orchestras, including the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, European Union Youth Orchestra, Joven Orquesta Nacional de España, Joven Orquesta Nacional de Holanda, and The World Orchestra. He collaborates with groups such as the Orquesta Sinfónica del Teatro Real de Madrid, Orquesta del Teatro Regio de Turín, Cuarteto Almus and Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia. He has also performed in prestigious festivals all over the world, under the baton of conductors such as Lutz Köhler, Vasily Petrenko, Krzysztof Urbanski, Juanjo Mena, Eliahu Inbal, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Christoph Eschenbach, Herbert Blomstedt, Gianandrea Noseda, George Pehlivanian, Lorenzo Viotti, David Afkham and Jonathan Nott, among others.
